The latest movie by Guillermo del Toro was definitely not a let down and delivered. It was visually stunning and had a good story. Though the background proves how disturbed a family can be and has a okay love story. If you like blood and ghost this is a movie for you.
First off the acting was up there from across the board. Tom Hiddelston pulled off a good charismatic character though fucked up in the head, as well as, Jessica Chastain, more the fucked up one. Mia Wasikowska did alright for her first time, I say that because I have never seen her in anything else besides this movie. Though she did not seem as dramatic and as terrified as you would think. But all in all she did fine.
The basic premise of this story is girl deals with stuck up bitches looking for money with her boyfriend. Then new guy comes in trying to be inventor. Saves her from stuck up bitches. Marries her and takes her to haunted house to live with sister. Freaky bloodied ghost appear to her. Murders happened and more blood. We will say that for now so I will not ruin the movie for you guys.
Though it is a horror it has more plot than usual. This is a bonus because it does get you involved in a story. My girl also enjoyed the movie, so bonus for me. Violence that she will watch with me is always good. Now, the Special Effects were good. And Guillermo del Toro always delivers a very visual movie in all he does which I enjoy. In my opinion it is one of the better horrors/thrillers that has come out in a while bravo to all cast and crew. I give this a 8 out of 10. It was impressive but it is hard to get a ten. I enjoyed it and I hope you do too.
