Hello everyone. On the 14 of April 2016 my scream girl and myself were granted the honor to see the premier of, “The Possession Experiment,” at the Naro Expanded Cinema in Norfolk, Virginia. The film was written by Mary Dixon and directed by Scott Hansen. Also making a appearance is Bill Moseley who is well known to this genre. I have to say they did very well. They filmed in Virginia and put together a good movie that is unique to the genre. Since, it will not be released till October in USA I will try not to spoil the fun.
The movie is a possession movie if you did not get that from the title. It is unique in the way the possession comes about within the movie. The story centers around Brandon Jensen who is a Theology student at a local university. He has always obsessed over the darker side of theology including Revelations, The Inquisition, and Exorcisms. Brandon decided after watching some movies that he wants to become possessed so they could scientifically track what is going on with him. He does this by using a fund me online account so that he could afford the equipment and traveling to do the show. He announces what he is going to do on social media so he could get a crowd to sponsor him. He finds that he made more than enough money to go through the research. Though his mother and many others do not approve. They try to convince him of the negativity associated with that because you are asking a demon to enter your body and the world. He decides to go through this anyway. He found a site where an exorcism was performed and it ended in multiple deaths. He decides to take his crew: a medical student, a pot head, and a medium to go and perform the ritual in a beautiful house.
The director used no computer graphics in this movie. It was done through special effects such as make-up and latex. The story was interesting and actually was filmed in a unique way. Part found footage and part third person. All scenes were done in the Tidewater area and some in Northern Parts of Virginia. After the movie there was question and answer time where we found out where the story was birthed in the mind of Mary Dixon and Scott Hansen. It is a good watch and I hope all of you get to see it. It is said to be released in October of this year.
Though I could go on in detail if I reveal more it will spoil the movie. The premier was great and the staff are all are good people. The movie was done well though if I could say anything it is of no fault of there own, I did figure some of the knowledge out before it was revealed but hell that could be because of my obsession with horror movies and this genre. All in all I have to say way to go Scott Hansen, Mary Dixon, and staff it was an honor to be invited to your premier and I hope to see more of you guys in the future.
