This is one of the most terrifying movies for males with too much machismo to show respect to females. Haha. That is how it starts out. This 2007 movie made you feel a little bit of everything. It is a dark comedy/horror story of a young girl with extra parts that simply can be scary to most men and possibly some women.
Dawn is the sweet high school girl next door. She grew up next to a nuclear power plant which mutated her body in such a way that she can protect her innocence towards anyone. Nevertheless, the movie opens up with two kids in a pool and male and a female and all of the sudden the male screams in pain. Years past and you meet Dawn the young girl in the pool from earlier in high school. She is making her promise to abstain from sexual intercourse in front of a group of other students and shows her pride in doing so by putting on the ring. Later, her and her male friend start going to a beautiful secluded area where he begins to flirt with Dawn. They disappear into a cave like place where he starts to force his self on her which she is not ready for at all. He then starts coitous, then in her terror and somewhat shame you hear a crunching sound. The boy falls back crying and pain and bleeding profusely through his genitalia which is missing. Dawn terrified runs away and goes back home.
Feeling something is wrong Dawn decides to go to her OBGYN to hopefully get some answers. As he is “checking,” he feels something odd with his fingers and then crunch. They are all missing. He screams out; “Vagina Dentata!” and moves away from her frantically. She then leaves and decides to look on the internet what, “Vagina Dentata,” is in which she finds out that it is teeth within the vagina and hers works to well. The rest of the movie is about how she deals with it and how others act towards her in almost a coming of age type movie. Overall bits of horror and definitely terror.
This movie caught me off guard to say the least when I first watched it. Whoever wrote it knew how to catch people off guard, so bravo. The movie is pretty good and funny to an extent with other more disturbing parts but does well in telling a story. If you want to watch it I say go for it but be weary of “Vagina Dentata.”
