First, off I volunteer to play the lead in this show. I believe that this would be an excellent reemergence especially in modern times. The internet providing a highway for the world to see and how quickly the world access the knowledge. At the end of this I will tell you what I think the modern take should be in this crazy supernatural television series (1974-1975) that has been untouched in years and needs to come back.
Kolchak: The Night Stalker, is about an investigative reporter whose specialty is the paranormal and supernatural. He writes for, The Daily Chronicle, about all sorts of unnatural things including zombies, werewolves, vampires, and much more within the realm of the unusual. The series ran from 1974 thru 1975 with only one season. According to some sources it stopped due to creative differences between the lead actor Darren McGavin and the writers and producers in which Darren McGavin left the show ending the series. The series was an actual spin-off from two movies dealing with a vampire and an alchemist. Though this series faded it has earned a cult gathering in which I just decided to join. So thank you. This series is funny, exciting, and genuine. It deserves a reemergence and I will support it. Thanks to METV, Amazon, and the efforts of Jeffrey Grant Rice and Mark Dawidziak it has survived through a comic book series produced by Moonstone Comics, and I want it back on TV, Netflix Series, or Hell even a YouTube series. Which I would love to be a part of just let me know.
How can we bring this series back from the dead so to speak and make it modern. How about make Kolchak a Blogger (Like ME!!! Haha). He has friends in the police and newspaper who tell him about crimes that just do not make sense to the modern person and Kolchak as goofy and good he is investigates them to see if he can figure out what is going on. He brings his lucky camera that helps him film what he discovers and then reports to his blog which is well known. Well, of course the entity or the villain who committed his crime does not want to be discovered or maybe they do for the attention that they get. So, Kolchak gets entangled with these beings. He does research and helps try to stop these crimes.
That is my take on a modern version of this amazing show. Hell if we are good enough we can make a horror universe. Kolchak could eventually associate with Sam and Dean from Supernatural, or Nick Burkhardt from Grimm to help solve cases. Hey, if Marvel and DC can make their Universe we can make our Horrorverse. Just for the future. Sorry this blog was so long, I am just excited that I found a new old TV Series that is amazing and I wish there was more of it. Have a good one.
