This is a modern vampire movie from the 1980s with several theories the race of vampires that have nothing to do with the more classical myths. Made in 1983 this movie had some heavy hitters of the spotlight involve in making this movie. The cast consisted of David Bowie, Susan Sarandon, Catherine Deneuve, and a brief cameo of Wilhelm Dafoe. The movie was interesting and presented in a gothic art style.

This movie is about a vampire whose wife is an alpha vampire. John played by David Bowie believes he will live forever by the side of his wife Miriam (Deneuve) but has a rude awakening. He finds out that since he is not the alpha after many years his body quickly ages and he starts to deteriorate rapidly. While this begins to happen a young scientist name Sarah (Sarandon) who has been doing research on Progeria comes into play. John seeks her out to stop his aging process but she gets introduced to Miriam who is wanting her to be her next companion after John dies.

This movie was interesting. Some weird myths of vampirism were found in this movie. One example of that is John dying even though he is a vampire. Also both vampires do not bite their victims neck but sleep with them and cut their necks with a small knife to drink their blood. The vampires also walk around during the day and it does not hurt them and they die pretty much how humans die just takes longer. The movie was good, but very interesting. Acting was not bad and soundtrack decent. Good movie just a little weird overall. If you are a vampire fan this movie may piss you off but hey no one knows the truth of how vampires live.
